Sleep becomes a joke when you are pregnant. I am not going to lie to you. You will not get 8 hours of deep sleep. That is gone. Accept it.

Why? Because now your uterus is big enough. It will press on that vein I told you about. You will feel dizzy. Your heart will beat fast. You may even wake up gasping for air. This happened to me. I woke up one night and felt like someone was sitting on my chest. I turned to my side and the feeling went away in seconds.
So sleep on your side. Left side is the most recommended. But right side is also fine. Do not make it a big issue. Just do not lie flat.

Left side is the safest. I will tell you why. Your liver is on the right side. When you sleep on your left side, your uterus does not press on your liver. Also, blood flows better to your baby. Your kidneys clean your blood faster. This means less swelling in your feet.
But if your left side hurts, you can switch to your right side. Do not lie on your back. That is the only rule.
You will feel breathless now. The baby is pushing up against your lungs. You cannot take a deep breath. Lying down makes it worse.
What should you do? Do not lie flat. Prop yourself up. Make a ramp with pillows. Put three pillows behind your back. Keep your head and shoulders high. This gives your lungs more space. You will breathe easier.
