Too Much Mobile Hurts Focus
I know this is hard for every parent. We give mobile to keep the child quiet. We give mobile so we can do our own work. But there is a cost for this.
Every time a child watches a short video, the brain gets a small pleasure hit. Then the video changes. Another pleasure hit. The brain gets used to this fast change. Then when the child opens a book, the book does not give any pleasure hit. The book feels boring. So the child runs away from the book.
You cannot take away mobile completely in one day. That will cause a big fight. Instead do this. Make a rule. No mobile before finishing study. No mobile during eating. No mobile one hour before sleeping.
Also reduce slowly. If your child watches two hours today, make it one hour forty minutes tomorrow. Cut ten minutes every two days. In two weeks, the time will come down to half hour. In one month, you can bring it to fifteen minutes.
Do not use mobile as a reward for studying. That sends the wrong message. The message should be that mobile is not special. Study is just normal life.
Make One Place Only for Study
In many Indian homes, children study on the bed. Or on the floor near the TV. Or on the dining table where people keep walking around. This is not good for focus.
