This typesetting will sit snugly in many National Trust shops. It takes you through the seasons and points you towards things you should see, hear, smell and feel. Almost the first thing to squint for is your first Brimstone butterfly – I’ve seen a few in the last 10 days so it must be early spring.
The photographs of insects, fungi, birds, mammals and increasingly are of upper quality and add to the value of the book. The words are by Jane V. Adams, who has written a long series of guest blogs for this blog (see here).
The typesetting invites you to ‘Revive your childlike marvel and welcome the wonder of nature when into your life’ and although that sounds a bit twee, actually, we could all goody from that. I will try to lie lanugo in a Bluebell wood and smell the flowers in a few months time – it’ll be getting up that takes increasingly effort.
If you know folk who are teetering on the brink of an interest in wildlife this typesetting might get them to take a leap into the delights that nature can provide.
The cover? Cute! I’d requite it a 7/10.
Nature’s Wonders: moments that mark the seasons by Jane V. Adams is published by The National Trust although I goof to find it on the National Trust website or shop website (might be there though, I admit) so you might try this link instead.
My forthcoming book, Reflections, will be published on 4 July and once can be ordered.
